Finom Accounting: Freemium Model

Since the launch of Finom Accounting, we’ve offered the service for free to gather feedback from our clients and build a tool that truly supports your business. During this time, we’ve refined and expanded the product into a reliable, full-featured accounting solution.

We are introducing a freemium model that allows continued development of features, reliable support, and a sustainable service offering.

How the Freemium model works

Our new model gives all users full access to Finom Accounting completely free for the first 6 months. After that period, pricing depends on your selected plan and the accounting features you want to continue using.

6 months free for everyone

All existing Finom users and anyone who signs up during the campaign period receive 6 months of full accounting access at no additional cost.

During the free period, all accounting features are unlocked regardless of your banking plan, including:

  • Unlimited scanning, storage, and basic categorization

  • AI smart categorization rules

  • Mobile interface access

  • Tax Wallet and amortization

  • DATEV and ELSTER export

  • Accountant access

  • Report submission

What happens after the free period?

After your 6-month free period ends, core accounting functionality remains free forever.

The following features continue to be available free of charge:

  • Scanning and storage of documents

  • Transaction categorisation

  • AI categorisation support

  • Tax Wallet functionality

Certain “output” features will require an active paid plan. These include:

  • DATEV and ELSTER export

  • Accountant access

  • Submission of reports to the Finanzamt

When you first try to use one of these features after your free period, you’ll be prompted to activate a paid Accounting plan.

Important: Your existing accounting data always remains safe and accessible, regardless of your subscription status.

Pricing after the free period

The available pricing options depend on your Finom banking plan:

  • Accounting only: €14/month
    A standalone accounting subscription with no banking plan required.

If you have a banking plan, accounting is an additional add-on fee.

  • Accounting for Solo: €9/month

  • Accounting for Basic: €5/month

  • Accounting for Smart/Pro/Grow: Included free of charge

All prices exclude VAT.

We’ve designed billing to be simple and flexible — just like the rest of Finom.

  • Monthly billing for the add-on if you are on an annual banking subscription.

  • Billing aligns with your main Finom billing period, and you are only charged for the billing period at the end of the said period for the services you have used.

  • Cancel anytime — no fees or penalties

What happens to your existing data?

Your data always remains safe and accessible, whether you activate a paid plan or not.

If you don’t activate a paid plan:

  • You keep access to all verified records and uploaded documents

  • You can continue viewing your accounting history

  • You can continue using free accounting features

  • Paid output features such as exports, report submission, and accountant access become unavailable

If you cancel your subscription:

  • Your account reverts to the free tier

  • All verified records and stored documents remain accessible

  • Export and accountant access features will be paused until you reactivate a plan

  • There are no cancellation fees or penalties
