Understanding billing for Finom Accounting

Finom Accounting is available through a freemium model, giving you access to core accounting features for free, while advanced “output” features become available through paid plans after an initial free period.

This approach lets you explore the product in real conditions before deciding whether to activate a paid Accounting plan.

6 months of free access

All users receive 6 months of full access to Finom Accounting at no additional cost.

This applies to both existing Finom customers and new users who join during the campaign period.

During the free period, all accounting features are unlocked regardless of your banking plan, including:

  • Unlimited scanning, storage, and categorisation

  • AI smart categorisation rules

  • Mobile interface access

  • Tax Wallet and amortisation

  • DATEV and ELSTER export

  • Accountant access

  • Report submission

There are no bookkeeping record limits during the free period.

What happens after the free period?

After your 6-month free period ends, core accounting functionality remains free forever, including scanning, storage, categorisation, and Tax Wallet functionality.

Advanced “output” features require an active paid Accounting plan. These feature are:

  • DATEV and ELSTER export

  • Accountant access

  • Submission of reports to the Finanzamt

If you try to use one of these features after your free period ends, you’ll be prompted to activate a plan.

Your existing accounting data always remains safe and accessible, regardless of your subscription status.

Pricing options

The available pricing options depend on your Finom banking plan:

  • Accounting only: €14/month
    A standalone accounting subscription with no banking plan required.

If you have a banking plan, accounting is an additional add-on fee.

  • Accounting for Solo: €9/month

  • Accounting for Basic: €5/month

  • Accounting for Smart/Pro/Grow: Included free of charge

All prices exclude VAT.

Billing model and subscription terms

Accounting plans follow a post-paid monthly billing model aligned with your main Finom billing cycle.

  • Monthly billing under an annual agreement

  • Charges applied at the end of each billing cycle for services already used

  • Billing aligned with your existing Finom subscription cycle

  • Cancel anytime with no fees or penalties

Example:

If your main Finom billing date is the 20th of each month and you activate Accounting features on the 10th:

  • Your first charge will be calculated for the days used between the 10th and the 20th

  • The next billing cycle will include the full monthly amount

Canceling or deactivating

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings.

When you cancel:

  • Your account automatically reverts to the free tier

  • All verified records and stored documents remain accessible

  • Paid output features become unavailable until reactivation

  • You are only charged for services already used during the final billing cycle

There are no cancellation fees or penalties.

If you choose to deactivate and delete your accounting data, all bookkeeping records, uploaded documents, and reports will be permanently removed from your account.

This action is irreversible and should only be used if you want to completely reset your accounting profile.
