What should I know about Investments before I start?

Written by Elena

Before you start investing through Finom, it's important to understand how Investments works, who provides the service, the products available, and the risks involved. This article gives you an overview of everything you should know before making your first investment.

About Investments

Investments helps you make the most of your business cash by allowing you to invest directly through Finom instead of leaving excess funds sitting idle in your account.

Everything is managed from the same place you already use for your day-to-day banking, so there's no need to move money between different providers. Whether you're setting aside cash for future expenses, building a reserve for your business, or looking for an alternative to holding unused funds, Investments gives you a simple way to put your money to work.

Keep in mind that Investments are not savings accounts or bank deposits. As with any investment, the value of your holdings can go up or down, and returns are not guaranteed.

Our investment partner

Finom provides Investments in partnership with Aksys Global Markets Europe LTD , a fully regulated investment firm authorized by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under the EU MiFID II framework.

Aksys is responsible for providing regulated investment services and ensuring compliance with applicable investment regulations. You can find the Client Agreement within the Investments product.

Eligibility

Investments are available to eligible businesses with an active Finom account.

Before you can start investing, you'll need to complete the required verification and compliance checks and meet the eligibility requirements established by Aksys.

If Investments are available for your business, you'll see the option directly in your Finom account.

Investments are currently available to businesses registered in Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain, and Sweden.

Availability may change over time due to regulatory requirements or product availability.

Available investment products

The investment products available to you may vary depending on your jurisdiction and regulatory eligibility.

At the moment, Finom offers Money Market Funds (MMFs). These funds are designed to preserve capital, maintain liquidity, and generate returns from short-term money market instruments.

Additional investment products may become available in the future.

Understanding the risks

Like all investments, Finom’s Investments product carries risk.

Before investing, remember that:

  • Returns are not guaranteed.

  • The value of your investment may increase or decrease.

  • In exceptional circumstances, you could receive less than you originally invested.

As a general rule, consider investing money that your business is unlikely to need for its day-to-day operations.

Although Money Market Funds are generally considered lower-risk than many other investment products, their value can still fluctuate and past performance does not guarantee future returns.

Returns

Returns depend on the investment product you choose. Each product includes its own return calculation and payout information.

For the Money Market Fund currently available through Finom, returns earned during a calendar month are paid to your Main Wallet at the beginning of the following month.

Returns are variable and are not guaranteed.

Fees

Opening and maintaining an investment account is free of charge.

Depending on the investment product, additional charges—such as custody, trading, or foreign exchange fees—may apply.

Any applicable fees are displayed before you invest and can also be found on the product page. Custody fees are charged periodically, are deducted from your Main Wallet and vary depending on your Finom plan. Check the applicable fee on the Finom website.

Taxes

Investment income, including yield, interest, dividends, or other returns, may be subject to taxation depending on your company's country of tax residence, legal structure, and local tax regulations.

Please note that:

  • Finom and Aksys do not provide investment, legal, or tax advice.

  • Your taxes are not withheld from your Investments account or Finom wallets.

  • Finom does not prepare or submit tax returns on your behalf.

  • Performance information displayed in the app is shown before taxes unless stated otherwise.

If you're unsure how Investments may affect your tax position, we recommend consulting an independent tax adviser.

Safeguarding your investments

Your investments are held separately from the assets of Finom and our investment partners through regulated custody arrangements. This means your assets remain segregated from company funds and are administered in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Depending on your eligibility and the applicable regulations, your investments may also be covered by investor compensation schemes, such as the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund , subject to the applicable conditions and compensation limits.
