Why was my card removed from Apple Pay or Google Pay?

Written by Elena

If you've noticed that your Finom card is no longer working with Apple Pay or Google Pay, don't worry — this article explains what happened and how to fix it in just a few minutes.

What happened

As part of an update to our card verification process, we identified that some cards were added to Apple Pay or Google Pay before our latest verification requirements were in place. To make sure all cards linked to digital wallets meet these updated standards, we removed the affected cards from their digital wallets.

This means the connection between your Finom card and your digital wallet was reset — but nothing else has changed.

Is my account or card safe?

Yes. To be clear:

  • Your Finom account has not been compromised. This was a routine security update, not the result of any suspicious activity.

  • Your card is still active and works as normal for in-store, online, and ATM use, so you can keep using it freely

  • No replacement card is needed. Your card number and details haven't changed.

The only thing affected is your card's connection to Apple Pay or Google Pay — this simply needs to be re-established.

What you need to do

To keep using your Finom card with your digital wallet, you'll need to add it again. This only takes a few minutes.

Add your card to Google Pay

While re-adding your card, you may be asked to complete a verification step (such as confirming a code or approving the request in your Finom app). This is expected — it's part of the updated security check and confirms the card belongs to you.

Troubleshooting

If you run into any issues while re-adding your card:

  1. Make sure you're using the latest version of the Finom app and your phone's operating system.

  2. Double-check that the card details you enter match those on your Finom card exactly.

  3. If prompted for verification, make sure you have access to the Finom app or the phone number/email linked to your account.

  4. Try removing any old or duplicate version of the card from your wallet before re-adding it.

If the card still won't add after trying the steps above, please reach out to our Customer Care team — we're happy to help you get it sorted.
