This article will explain to you how e-invoicing works with your Finom business account in Germany.
Receiving an e-invoice
You can receive e-invoice via 2 ways in your Finom account
By Uploading from your device: You can directly upload e-invoices to your account from the “Documents” section
By Email: Send your e-invoices via email to the dedicated email address Finom has created for you, so they can be processed
The system automatically recognizes e-invoice formats. Once uploaded or sent via email, the document is saved as an e-invoice without requiring additional actions. You can preview and manage the document directly from your dashboard in the “Documents” section
💡 Please note: we support both XRechnung and ZUGFeRD e-invoice formats
Creating e-invoice
The process for creating e-invoices is identical to creating regular invoices.
Start as usual from “GO” button and choose “New invoice”
Enter all the necessary data as you would usually do.
When all data are entered, click on “Save”
By default, invoices are generated in ZUGFeRD format. While this appears as a standard PDF when you check it in your account, it is optimized for accounting purposes due to its standardized layout and simplified recognition
If you decide you want to switch the format of the invoice from ZUGFeRD, click on 3 dots and select “Convert to XML (XRechnung)”
The selected format is displayed below the invoice number for clarity
Downloading & sharing e-invoice
Invoice can be downloaded and/or shared as before. There are 3 ways to do it:
Download: you can download your e e-invoice as a file and share it via your preferred method
Email: Send the e-invoice directly by email from your Finom interface
Messenger: Share through a messaging application directly from Finom interface
Recipients will receive the invoice in the format chosen by you
When an invoice is shared via a link, the recipient will have access to the following:
A preview of the invoice
Download option in format chosen by issuer
