Finom Accounting is available through a freemium model, giving you full access to its features from the start. This approach lets you try the product in real conditions before deciding whether to activate the paid add-on.

Free access and usage limit

All users begin with full access to Finom Accounting, including features like:

  • Automatic transaction categorisation

  • Financial and tax reports

  • DATEV export

  • UStVA submission

The free version is limited to a lifetime total of 20 verified bookkeeping records. This allows most freelancers and self-employed users to explore the tool over a typical 1–2 month period.

A bookkeeping record is defined as a completed and verified entry for a business transaction — for example, the purchase of office equipment or the payment of an invoice. Only records you verify for the first time (when they move to the “Ready” status) count toward this limit.

Actions that do not count include:

  • Bookkeeping draft creation

  • Document uploads

  • Editing or re-verifying already verified records

Examples

1 invoice = 1 record: You upload one invoice, it’s verified, and linked to a transaction. This counts as 1 record.

1 transaction, multiple categories = 1 bookkeeping group:

You have one bank transaction for a €100 hardware store purchase that you split into “Office Supplies” and “Tools.”

This is still one business event, so it counts as 1 record.

We count 1 bookkeeping group as 1 record.

1 transaction, multiple invoices = 3 records:

You make a €500 payment that covers three separate invoices.

Each invoice is a separate business event, so this counts as 3 records.

Purchase and refund = 2 records:

You buy an item (1 record).

Later, you receive a refund, processed as a credit note (1 additional record).

While using the free version, you can generate and submit tax reports such as the UStVA, based on the verified records. Access to annual reports requires activation of the Accounting add-on.

What happens after the 20-record limit

Once you reach the 20-record limit, verifying additional records will no longer be possible.

You will be prompted to activate the Finom Accounting add-on.

No charges are made automatically — the add-on is only activated if you confirm it.

Activating the add-on and what’s included

The add-on costs €29 per month (plus VAT) and unlocks unlimited usage and advanced features. Promotional discounts may be available depending on your plan.

By activating the add-on, you gain access to:

  • Unlimited verified bookkeeping records

  • Annual reports and detailed financial summaries

  • Direct tax declarations to the Finanzamt

  • Easy data export (e.g., DATEV)

  • Support from our AI accounting assistant

  • Fully integrated banking and bookkeeping in one platform

Billing model and subscription terms

The Accounting add-on follows a post-paid, monthly billing model, aligned with your main Finom billing period.

You enter into an annual agreement, but are charged month by month for the services already used.

You can cancel at any time, with no fees or penalties.

Your price remains fixed for the entire year.

Example:

If your main Finom billing date is the 20th of each month and you activate the add-on on the 10th:

  • Your first charge will be on the 20th, calculated for the 10 days used

  • The next charge will be the full monthly amount on the following 20th

Cancelling or deactivating

You can cancel the subscription at any time from your account settings. When you cancel:

  • Access to paid features stops immediately

  • You will only be charged for the days already used in the final billing cycle

  • Your account will return to the free plan, and all previously verified records remain accessible and exportable

If you choose to deactivate and delete your accounting data, this will permanently erase all bookkeeping records, documents, and reports from your account.

This action is irreversible and intended only for users who want to completely reset their accounting profile.

If you need assistance or have questions about your subscription, our support team is happy to help via in-app chat.
