Verification with selfie and bank confirmation is a fully online process that allows you to verify your identity and sign the required documents without a video call. This method combines identity verification, bank account confirmation, and electronic document signing in a single flow. The process usually takes less than 5 minutes.
What you will need before you start:
A valid government-issued identity document (passport or national ID card)
Access to your online banking (an alternative bank account)
Your mobile phone (to receive SMS codes)
Access to the email address you used to register with Finom.
How the verification process works
Follow the steps below:
1. Capture your identity document.
You will be asked to take a picture of your identity document (for example, a passport or national ID card).
Make sure the document is clearly visible, not cropped, and all details can be easily read.
2. Complete a selfie (liveness check)
You need to take a selfie to confirm that the document belongs to you and that you are physically present during the verification. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete this step.
3. Confirm your phone number and email
You may be asked to confirm your phone number and email address using a one-time password (OTP). Enter the code you received to continue.
4. The next part of the process is making a bank transfer.
Choose the country and select your bank.
5. Log in to your online banking
You will be prompted to securely log in using your bank’s authentication method (for example, Secure Customer Authentication).
6. Authorize a €0.01 test transfer
You will be asked to approve a €0.01 verification transfer from your personal bank account:
This amount is refundable
It will be returned to you
This step confirms the bank account is held in your name
7. Review and sign the documents
Before signing, you will be able to review the documents. To sign them, you will receive a one-time password (OTP) via SMS. Enter the code to complete the signing process.
Once all steps are completed, your documents will be signed with a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES), which has the same legal validity as a handwritten signature under European regulations
What happens after verification?
If verification is successful, you will be redirected back to the Finom onboarding flow to complete your account opening.
If verification fails or is interrupted, you will return to Finom, where you can click “Repeat verification” and switch to another method (video call with an operator).
