Unfortunately, if you are a taxpayer or a citizen of the United States, we cannot open your FINOM business account.

The reason why is not possible is linked to the FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) agreement.

In fact, FATCA implies the obligation from the banks to provide financial information to the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in order to verify the identity of all persons subject to US taxation.

For further information on this matter, we recommend consulting this link or consulting your accountant.

Will I be asked about this information when opening an account?

Yes, while opening your account, you will also be asked to specify whether you are a taxpayer or a citizen of the United States.

Select "Yes" if any of the following conditions apply to you:

  • You are a US citizen (including dual citizenship)

  • You are resident or have a permanent residence permit in the USA

  • You reside in the United States for more than 180 days a year

  • You are subject to US tax for any other reason

By clicking "Yes", you will be immediately informed that it’s not possible to open a business account at the moment, but you will still have the opportunity to try the other FINOM services, such as multi banking and billing.

On the contrary, if you do not meet any of the above conditions, you will have to click "No". You will then be able to proceed normally with the opening of your account.
