There are some simple rules and action points that will significantly increase the security of your personal account. We advise you to do these actions right now, without delay.
Finom builds reliable technical protection, but it may not help if you become a vulnerable link in the chain.
1) Ensure you log into your personal account on the correct website – https://app.finom.co/ – or via the Finom mobile application for IOS, Android, Samsung, or Huawei. Remember, every time you search for Finom's domain in Google or any other search engine, in the top search results, you may see scammers’ advertisements that lead to phishing websites!
What you can do for quick and secure access to your personal account:
add https://app.finom.co/ to your browser bookmarks: just press the Cmd+D or CTRL+D shortcut on your keyboard or click a Star sign on the address bar;
you can also add https://app.finom.co/ as a shortcut icon to your desktop;
and, of course, install the application on your mobile device (see links above).
2) Never share your login/password with third parties.
3) DO NOT forward letters, SMS codes, or login links from Finom to anyone.
For security purposes, all modern services require at least one more step of multi-factor authentication in addition to a login and password. Sometimes, this is a code from an SMS, an instant code generated via Google Authenticator, or a secret link sent to an email to confirm ownership of this phone or email. Therefore, you shouldn’t send any SMS or email messages from your bank account to anyone; if asked to, stop communicating immediately!
4) Better yet, set up a passkey in your Finom account, which is more convenient, doesn’t depend on the speed of sending letters and SMS, and can’t be used on fake sites. Passkeys are digital credentials that are stored on your device and help securely confirm your identity while signing in to your account. They ensure it's you by using biometrics or a screen lock while signing in, and they can't be used anywhere but on the genuine Finom site, protecting you against phishing attacks.
5) Turn on Face ID or Touch ID in your Finom mobile app settings to quickly and securely log into it;
6) We recommend using a reliable password manager because:
it will remember a unique password of any complexity and length;
it will protect you from entering a phishing website (you will notice that your password manager didn’t recognize the site address);
password managers speed up login to websites;
a good password manager is more reliable than alternative methods, such as storing the password in the browser.
Read a Princeton University study to understand why apps are better than humans at creating and storing passwords.
7) Use antivirus software on your computer. Good old antivirus is still useful when it comes to protecting your device. Don't neglect this basic security measure.
Test your account security level using this checklist:
Added app.finom.co to bookmarks;
Installed a mobile application on the phone;
I use passkeys;
I won’t pass on any codes or links from email to Finom “employees” or any other people;
I store passwords in a password manager;
Antivirus is installed;
I use a reliable password manager.
If everything is done, you won't fall victim to a hacker.
