What happens if the subscription fee is not paid?

Written by Elena

Your subscription fee will be charged to your account monthly or annually, depending on the option you choose. However, your account may not have sufficient funds to cover the subscription fee. What happens in this situation?

There can be two possible outcomes:

  • If there are insufficient funds in your account to pay your subscription fees at this time, access to your account will be blocked until you have topped up enough to pay for your subscription.

  • If your account balance is not enough to cover both your subscription and any additional service fees, the fees for extra services used during the previous billing period will be charged first. If there are insufficient funds to cover your subscription, access to your account will remain blocked until you top up and the full subscription amount is successfully charged.

The billing block does not stop incoming payments and transfers from coming, giving you the possibility to top up your account

Once your account is blocked, you will see the following screen after logging into your account:

How to top up and unblock your account

From the blocking screen, choose how you'd like to add funds:

  • Apple Pay

  • Google Pay

  • Credit or debit card

  • Bank transfer (SEPA, instant or regular)

Selecting Apple Pay, Google Pay, or card opens that payment method directly so you can top up in a few taps. Selecting bank transfer shows your account's SEPA transfer details.

The usual limits for card top-ups apply, see Top up your Finom account with a card for details.

If you've already reached your cumulative card top-up limit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and card won't be shown as options on the blocking screen — bank transfer (SEPA) is always available as a way to top up, regardless of that limit.

If your top-up doesn't fully cover the outstanding amount, your account stays blocked until the full amount has been collected.

As soon as the full amount is charged, your account is unblocked automatically — no further action needed on your part. This can take up to a few minutes to take effect.
