For our German clients, our partner bank Solaris requires additional verification to grant users permission to:

- Use a card with wallets

- Confirm payments from wallets

- Transfer money from this wallet to other wallets

To provide such verification, the account owner needs to confirm the delegation of these rights to a team member by entering a code or using our mobile application.

In which cases do I need to authorize a person for the wallet?

You need to authorize your team member if:

- They are issued a card to use with a wallet

- They need to confirm and make payments from a wallet

- They need to transfer money from this wallet to other wallets

Authorization is not necessary for:

- Creating payments and sending them for approval (but not approving them)

- Viewing the wallet's details (such as IBAN, balance, etc.)

- Checking transactions or creating statements

Authorization for a specific person needs to be given only once for each wallet, unless you manually revoke it.

How is authorization different from wallet visibility?

Wallet visibility settings determine whether a person can view and interact with wallets in Finom. If a team member doesn't have visibility for a wallet:

- They won't see the wallet, its details, or balance in Finom

- They won't see transactions of this wallet

- They can't download statements for this wallet

On the other hand, authorization confirms that your teammate has the right to act on the wallet and spend funds from it. Without authorization, they can't:

- Use a card with this wallet

- Approve payments from this wallet (including ones created by other team members)

- Transfer money from this wallet to other wallets

However, if visibility for this wallet is enabled for them, they can still see the wallet details and transaction history in Finom, but they can't take any actions involving the wallet's funds.

Authorization for a wallet also requires verification via the mobile app or code, as required by our partner bank. Changing visibility settings does not require additional verification.

How do I authorize a person?

If you issue a card for your team member or they need to approve a payment from a wallet without authorization, a new "Authorize" button should appear in the team member's profile and on the Team page in the web version of Finom.

Tapping this button opens a window where you can authorize a person for each wallet they need access to. Wallets for which authorization was requested are marked, but you can also authorize access to other wallets in case you anticipate the teammate needing this authorization in the future.

To grant authorization, press the "Give access" button.

Note that verification via the mobile app or code is necessary for each wallet, and authorization will not be granted until successful verification.

You can manually review which wallets your teammate is authorized for by going to the team member's profile -> Settings and clicking "Manage wallet authorizations" on the web or going to the team member's profile and clicking "Wallet authorizations" on mobile.

Who can authorize a person and manage authorization settings?

Only the account owner can do that.

How do I revoke authorization?

If you're certain that your team member no longer needs access or the ability to perform actions with funds in a specific wallet, you can manually review authorization settings by going to the team member's profile -> Settings and clicking "Manage wallet authorizations" on the web or going to the team member's profile and clicking "Wallet authorizations" on mobile.

Please note that we don't recommend disabling authorization unless you're absolutely sure that your teammate won't need to use this wallet anymore, as it affects actions with the funds in this wallet. If you want to completely hide this wallet from a user, we recommend disabling their visibility access.

Check this article for more information on how to do this: https://help.finom.co/en/articles/8348665-access-to-wallets-for-team-members

Why can't I authorize or disable authorization of a person?

  1. Note that authorization is only available when a team member has completed identity verification. If they haven't, they won't be able to perform any actions with the wallet or have a card attached.

If your team member hasn't started identity verification and doesn't see a banner on the Finom dashboard inviting them to do so, go to their profile and click "Start identity check." Your team member should see the banner on their Finom dashboard to complete identity verification shortly.

  2. If the teammate is a legal representative of a company, they are required to have authorization for all wallets. If we believe that the teammate is a legal representative, you won't be able to change their authorization settings and will see an error message. If that isn't correct and the teammate is not a legal representative anymore, please contact our Customer Support team.

  3. If a teammate has active cards for this wallet, you won't be able to disable authorization for this wallet for them, and you will see an error message. Please close these cards first.
