At Finom, we are always looking at ways to make our Identity Verification process easier for our new customers.
That's why we offer 2 methods of verification - BankIdent or IDNow, for customers who have a company. You can read more about how to verify using BankIdent here. While more information about our IDNow verification process can be found by reading this instruction.
Here, we have gathered some tips for you on how to go through the verification process and open an account faster and easier.
For Bankident:
You can only use the IBAN from your personal (not business) bank account with another German bank only (DE-IBAN).
Kindly note that joint accounts for Bankident verification are unfortunately not accepted.
If you have successfully validated the transaction for 5 cents, but do not yet see in your profile that the verification was successful, you simply need to wait just a little longer for this to update. Occasionally, it can take up to a couple of hours to synchronize and process the payment.
If BankIdent verification does not suit you, you can always choose IDNow verification instead.
If BankIdent verification fails for some reason, the system will offer you the opportunity to attempt this one more time, or to complete the identity verification with IDNow.
For IDNow:
Please ensure you have your ID or passport to hand. The list of passports that IDNow accepts for verification can be found here. If your document is not accepted for verification because it is not on this list, or it has been damaged which prevents verification, then unfortunately you will be unable to verify your identity and complete the application process.
Make sure you have a strong and stable internet connection, and ensure the room you are in has adequate lighting in order for the quality of the image to be sufficient.
You can pass verification with IDNow using either your PC or via our mobile app as indicated below.
You can also install the IDNow app and pass verification from there. To verify using the IDNow app, you need an Ident-ID, which you will find on the IDNow page if you navigate there from your profile as shown below.
If verification is interrupted, you have the option to repeat it by selecting the appropriate option in your profile. To complete this, you will need to go back to the verification step again and click on the "Repeat verification" button. The number of attempts is not limited.
If verification fails when using our mobile app, try switching to a computer and verifying from there instead. Every so often, the connection on your computer is much more stable than on your phone, even if you're using Wi-Fi.
If all else fails and the verification keeps getting interrupted, try it again a little later. Kindly note that IDNow employees are available from 8:00am to 12:00 Midnight (CET)
